Will China's economy catch up with America by 2046?

www.chinanews.cn 2005-03-08 13:16:15

Chinanews Mar.7 - Professor Han Kang, Vice-president of the National
School of Administration and world famous economist, indicated that
China's economy would maintain long-term growth of 7%, while
post-industrialized countries would continue long-term growth of 2.5%. He
also believes that the Chinese economy would surpass or approach that of
the United States by 2046.
Han Kang made this optimistic prediction yesterday afternoon at the "2005
China-Guangdong Bohon Fortune Forum and Conference of US Chartered Wealth
Managers TM (CWMTM)".
According to Prof. Han Kang, as China's mainstream economic growth is not
presently over-heated, there should be no problems enhancing the braking
force of China's economy, ensuring a soft landing.
He said that Premier Wen Jiabao's report on the work of the government
provides reasonable analysis and judgment of China's economy and the
effect of the Central Government's macro-control policy. Land shortages,
the overgrowth of fixed assets and inflation, problems that plagued China
last year, have been alleviated. This will provide the operation of
China's macro-economy with a relatively flexible environment to lay a
better foundation for the next phase of economic growth.
