   Weight: 78 kg

   Born Place: Beijing, China

   Position: Midfielder

Shao Jiayi was first known in China for his 20-year-old ascension into
the national team under a Bora Milutinovic-led bid for China's first-ever
World Cup trip.

Magic "Milu" made it, and Shao's World Cup dream -- having haunted the
minds of his predecessors for decades -- came true. Although Shao wasn't
given much time to prove himself, he was lucky enough to snap up the
opportunity.

The following year, 2003, was another meaningful step in Shao's sports
career: he was transfered from Beijing Guoan to TSV Munich 1860. The
left-footed Shao got an opportunity to work with the legend German star
Thomas Hasler, who is also left-footed.

On May 9, 2003, Shao, following another Chinese forward player Yang Chen,
became the second Chinese player ever to score a Bundasliga goal: Shao
curled in a free kick in a game with Cottbus.

Despite the rising status of the German league, Shao's future was at risk
following a severe ligament injury that could incapacitate him for about
six months.
